REPLACED THE MODEL #70 THE FIRST MODEL 80 WAS SERIAL # 219785. HOWEVER THE FIRST PRODUCTION MODEL 80 WAS SERIAL # 219920.WHILE THE MODEL 70 CONTINUED TO USE A " MILK STOOL" AGITATOR IN THE LID OF THE MACHINE. THE MODEL 80 SERIES INTRODUCED AN AGITATOR DRIVEN BY A RACK BAR UNDERNEATH THE TUB. THE MODEL 80 MACHINES CONSISTED OF A LOW-TYPE GYRATATOR. THIS HAD LEAKAGE PROBLEMS FROM THE WATER PRESSURE SO IN 1925 THE GYRATATOR WAS CHANGED TO A HIGH CENTER GYRATATOR SERIAL # 382877. SEE CHANGE RECORDS FOR THE FOUR TUB VARIATIONS. THE FLAT DRIVE TYPE BELT WAS CHANGED TO V TYPE BELT ON AUGUST 2, 1927 AN ARTICLE IN THE MAYTAG ELECTRIC MOTOR IN THE JUNE, 1927 PROFIT NEWS ASSERTED THAT MAYTAG USED THE GENERAL ELECTRIC MOTOR ON ALL THEIR MACHINES " EXCEPT IN A FEW CASE'S WHEN ODD FREQUENCY MOTORS CANNOT BE SECURED IN THE NECESSARY QUANTITY". THE "GYRAFOAM" WASHER USED THE G.E. TYPE AS SPLIT PHASE, ALTERNATING CURRENT INDUCTION MOTOR WHICH DIFFERED FROM CONVENTIONAL SPLIT PHASE INDUCTION MOTORS IN THAT THE SECONDARY MEMBER WAS MADE THE STATIONARY MEMBER KNOWN AS THE STATOR WHILE THE PRIMARY MEMBER WAS MADE THE ROTOR. THIS ALLOWED FOR GREATER DISSIPATION OF HEAT INHIBITING TENDENCY FOR THE MOTOR TO OVERHEAT. THERE ARE FOUR DIFFERENT CROWNS USED IN THE MODEL 80 SERIES WASHERS- THE CROWN IS THE TRIM ON THE TOP OF THE TUB.THE MODEL 80 SERIES ALSO INTRODUCED IN 1927 THE NEW BALLOON WRINGER.

ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFICATION SHEETS ON THE MODEL 82 THE FRUIT JAR MULTI-MOTOR ASSEMBLY #2766 WAS ALSO USED FOR MODEL 82 WASHERS PRODUCED ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFICATION SHEETS FOR 3-10-22, 11-1-22, AND 3-20-23. THE SPEC. SHEET FOR 7-25-23 WAS THE FIRST TO INTRODUCE MULTI-MOTOR ASSEMBLY # 29944 WHICH WAS THE 3/4 H.P. MULTI-MOTOR USED ON THE MODEL 82 AND 85 AND WAS GENERALLY KNOWN AS THE MODEL 82 MULTI-MOTOR. ACCORDING TO CALCULATIONS BASED ON THE DATES OF SPECIFICATION SHEETS AND ON PRODUCTION RECORDS, A TOTAL OF BETWEEN 2200 AND 3400 FRUIT JAR MULTI-MOTORS WERE PRODUCED. FRUIT-JAR ENGINE SERIAL RANGE # 99860 THRU # 111301. IT WAS THEN REPLACED WITH THE MODEL 82 3/4 H.P. MULTI-MOTOR. THE EARLY MODEL 82 USED A JOHNSON MAGNETO BUT A FEW, BEGINNING IN JUNE 1927, WERE PRODUCED WITH BOSCH MAGNETOS. THERE WERE BOTH 11 AND 9 FIN MODEL 82 MULTI-MOTORS. CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE INDICATES THAT AROUND 15,000 11 FIN MULTI-MOTORS WERE MANUF-ACTURED. THE MODEL 82 MULTI-MOTOR ALSO CAME WITH THE S216 FUEL TANK AND THE S223 FUEL TANK WAS ON WASHER SERIAL # 322289. THE EARLY MODEL 82 MULTI-MOTOR WAS ENAMELED BLUE. BEGINNING APRIL 20,1926 WITH WASHER # 56333, THE 82 MULTI-MOTOR WAS ENAMELED GREEN.
THE 1927 MODEL 82 WASHER INTRODUCED THE DOUBLE MAIN BEARING CRANKSHAFT MODEL 92 MULTI-MOTOR.
